Welcome everyone. Seems like we are all new so I will say how I got into baiting. In the process of raising my son I donated time, effort and materials to help build a battered women's shelter. I was asked by a volunteer at the shelter if I was interested in collecting used cellphones from friends, family and acquaintances. This was the last century when cellphones and service contracts were very expensive but having one even without an account tied to it meant a person could call emergency services. I would make sure that they worked, could be charged, were wiped of personal information and delivered them to random, safe drop-off points in the early evening where they were then moved on or distributed. The location of the shelter and the occupants was to be always kept secret and even though I worked on it, never returned. The Walter Mitty in me loved love it and I received a wonderful feeling from helping others.

Around 2003 a parent of my daughter's Best Friend For Life's kid and I were standing behind our offspring waiting for them to get processed at a summer camp. The entire process took three hours as they checked for foot fungus, lice, scabies, proper shoes, proper heel height and took the temperature of every camper. I have seen faster running lines checking for COVID-19. As we talked I found out not only did she work for the FBI, she was farmed out to local LE to pose as a 13 Y.O. girl online. I tried the catfishing thing for a while but it was totally disgusting to me. I found new appreciation for the love scambaiters. I would often just turn off the computer and take long showers to try and get the slime off. I did find that scambaiting was like crack to me. I joined 419Eater in 2005 as a baiter.

Sorry, I'm unable to send PMs yet, I guess since I'm new...I was looking at the Baiting Basics for Beginners post, and I'm unable to use any of the links there :( The link to Eater University redirects to what I assume is the old site, which I don't have access to, and the list of links all return an error when I click on them. Help?

Welcome kithri and everyone else. While Eater U is being sorted out, let me emphasis the most important aspect of baiting. Do it safely. Do not give out any personal information at all. Yeah, right you say, you just posted up all kinds of info three posts ago. Well, I sort of trust all baiters but still limited my info to 15 year plus old information that cannot be used to track me down. So please roll up your sleeves, grab a comfortable chair, find a few lads and help make the world a better place one frustrated scammer at a time.

I don't quite know how to phrase this; I'm not the best writer.

But one day, I discovered a literal Nigerian Prince email in my spam folder. Inspired by a number of TED talks I had watched, I replied, albeit from a fake account, pretending to be an elderly man living (and I now feel quite bad about this, as it seems a bit insensitive) in a (fictional) nursing home. This scambait, while increasingly ridiculous, is ongoing. I do not understand why said scammer continues to engage given the information I have given him (no phone number, no access to ID card, home staff instructed to deny existence of home itself/ignore when mailed, etc, etc), but I continue on.

Welcome, Ilrama!

Please don't waste any energy feeling badly about a ruse. The scammers sure don't feel badly about stealing money from the elderly! If you'd like to share parts of the bait with us, we'd love to see it. Bait safely, and welcome to the group!
Kitty

Hello! I'm very new to scambaiting. I started around a week ago! I got interested because of watching Monetized Youtube Baiter on YouTube, so I searched up more about scambaiting. Eventually, I found this site. I really love what you guys do, so I decided to try and do it myself!

Hey all, I'm Poppy.

Before you ask, I'm a guy, and I'm very much a furry. Poppy is the name of my 'sona (also male). I know a lot of people find furries confusing, but it probably won't come into play much. This is just a heads up to anyone bothered.

Anyhow, I've loved trolling for a long time, and 419 eating seems like a good way to let off some steam. I haven't had the fortune of running into any proper scam e-mails, but hopefully with your help I can find and bait a lot of them!

Good to make your acquaintance. :D See ya around!

Hello Poppy,

Welcome to Eater!

Have a look around, and be sure to read the Rules and the stickies. They contain a lot of useful information. Be sure to bait safely, never using your real information and contact details to contact the scammers!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

P.S. Eater is an inclusive place. Our focus is scambaiting and scambaiting related issues. Your other hobbies are neither an issue nor relevant here. You may leave them at the door. :D

Oh, that's new! Never met anyone who's a furry baiter before.

Welcome Poppy and Tob.

Tob - if you're looking to get into scambaiting, you've come to the right place.

You'll find we pretty much keep things scam baiting related here. No one is going to be bothered about or judgemental over your non-baiting life.

^^^ I suppose one could pay tribute to that hobby while keeping things relevant to baiting by convincing a lad or group of lads to dress up as animals. Offhand I know that lads have done the Easter bunny, the lion from Oz, and a teletubby in lieu of a Santa suit. Wikipedia classifies teletiubbies as "creatures" so I guess they could be considered animals. That leaves almost the entire animal kingdom to draw inspiration from.

Good evening everyone. Newbie here...
I am from the States and I am very happy I found this community.
Scammers actually get to me and yes, I fell for a scam and lost $50 but got his name, email, facebook and reported him!
Guess what? He is back and hit me up on a free phone number I have with a female name...
Want to learn more so I can wast his time!
Be safe y'all

Welcome to Eater.

I'm sorry that you were targeted by a scammer.

We recommend you do NOT bait a scammer that has your real information, even if you are baiting him from a different account/with different info. Just drop all contact with him, immediately. There are plenty of scammers out there that you can play with.

Bait safely!

(Read the rules and stickies, they are full of helpful information!)

Hi, my name's Vincent. I have scambaited in the past, although I'm very on-off with it (large gaps in between each scambaiting). I initially got into the whole thing with James Vietch, although my biggest idol right now is Mike from Monetized Youtube Baiter (has way more useful information).

This forum looks really fun, so I'm happy to be a part of it :)

With the current situation my year is, as we say here, "im Arsch" (nicely said, messed up), so I'm back to spending more time chatting with the lads and hopefully collecting some bacon. So, usual, I'm late to the party but I bought chips and dip.
