Actually, "Alaye" in this context is a popular cross-tribal word in Nigeria (and beyond). It means "Buddy" or "Mister", as used in the referenced conversation. It doesn't make the person a Yoruba. I think he's a Yoruba Nigerian but that doesn't necessarily mean that he ...
