It works like a robot

After explaining to a lad that I could only withdraw $500 per day from my ATM, I got the following explanation of how ATM machines work. It's too fascinating not to share:
Be inform that when you withdraw cash from an ATM Machine it works like a robot. For instance, you want to withdraw 50 bucks the machine works to deliver you the sum but at the same time due to some link down issue or any reason the said transaction could not be fulfilled and the cash is retracted back by the machine this is called an ATM reversal. All that happens in a couple of seconds and we don’t realize.

When you see your account statement you tally that particular transaction, you might have seen in the narratives it must have been written reverse entry or something like that. That means the moment your account was debited at the same time it was also credited by a reversal entry just because of some issues with the ATM Machine. It is all normal.

If the amount was deducted from your account and you did not receive the cash, you will get the refund from bank (within 15–20 days, if everything is right). Though amount should automatically come in your account, in case it doesn’t ,please drop a mail to your home branch (where you maintain your account) and mail to the branch linked with the ATM.

Please mention ATM ID (can be found on failed transaction slip) also in your request for speedy resolution. Even banks need to reconcile their failed transactions in ATM. Sometimes, in absence of any request from the account holders, they are forced to park the amount in suspense credit account. Your mail will help them to trace out the rightful owner of the transacted amount.
Have you experienced an ATM reversal? Drop a mail to your home branch.
