Why do lads like to sneak in and look around here?

Baiters don't (normally) sneak and look around lad communities because they try to be as clandestine as they can. So why do lads like to sneak around and watch baiters here?

Lads that discover this site tend to find it because they Googled their scammer name or other info they provided or baiter provided info. Some lads suss out what is going on but others assume baiters are really scammers because they don't understand concepts in which people do things for free just for the LOLZ. Many baiters here have salvaged baits where the lad found this site. A few have lingered for revenge purposes and maybe some members reading this thread will tell a tale or two about that. The funniest lads that found Eater to me are the idiots that register an account and start posting about how innocent they are. I believe there is one in Greatest Hits about a mentally "special" lad from Nigeria who got stredded in the Ivory Coast for months on end and eventually got to Benin to live with relatives but couldn't go home because he owed money. Famoh I think his name was. He created a thread stating that he wasn't a scammer and how unfair baiters are. A member decided to create another forum website called the Alliance Against Eater to convince him to join a class action against this site. He was asked to fill out forms and other chicanery. It got pretty crazy because it turned into a mass bait. Definitely check it out if you feel like reading some fun from the archives.

Lads are nosy and suspicious by nature so lurking around here is more about satisfying curiousity than anything else. Some may even try to run scams here which is certain death. That is why those Einsteins are dubbed "suicide lads" :P

Is that on the old 419 eater forum, which is being converted into read only, or is it this new one?

The link to that platform is listed in the thread for that particular bait but it no longer works. I think the bait fizzled out and can't remember if Famoh made it home but towards the end you could literally feel his frustration. He refused to fill out forms and play along but constantly begged for"a little bit" of quick cash to go home. He couldn't have cared less about the lawsuit by the end of it. Another Greatest Hits bait involving an idiot nicknamed ARK (acronym for his full initials) played out in a similar fashion. He was safari'd multiple times and 2 separate forum sites were created for that jackass. One was called the Millionare's Forum and the other was called the Investor's Forum. He was lured all over West Africa chasing Paris Hilton's "always on the move" yacht via the Millionaires site and the Investor one was to let him try to peddle his stupid fake oil and water purification businesses which he bleeted on and on about ad nauseum. Eventually he found Eater and was invited to join the shenanigans at "The Alliance Against..." forum. Those other 2 forum links were provided in his bait as well but no longer exist anymore.

The creativity and dedication that some members here allocate to torture these terrible lads is simply amazing. Definitely swing by the old forum and read up on threads in the Greatest Hits forum if you have some down time. There's a bait where the baiter plays the part of the Muppets Swedish Chef character and one where the baiter is a janitor on the ISS space station. With the latter the lad could never seem to grasp the fact that there are no Western Union outlets in low Earth Orbit  Good times!

ETA: Yes, go to the old forums site and read those in the Greatest Hits section. That forum was set to read only way before the conversion so all the same content should still be available.

Our favorites are the ones who sneak in for a peek, confuse us for a community of lads, and ask for help with their formats. There's also the lads who think this is a place where people share their stories of hope for a payout, and thus they post their own scams. Those are particularly special lads to us...

...and ask for help with their formats.
I really enjoy those. Sometimes they come from lads that wandered here and posted just as Kitty described and others evolve from different types of baits where the baiting character pretends to be another lad wanting to partner up or maybe a romance scam where the baiter gets the lad to admit that they are a scammer and suggests that they work together to steal money from victims to help "solidify their love" or whatever. If you can manage to pose as a character that partners with a lad there's a decent chance he'll be open to your suggestion to "improve" his scam script/format and maybe even be responsible for finding bank accounts to funnel money through. It all goes downhill of course because the baiter alters the scam format by misspelling everything, using all caps, and inserting incorrect idioms and slang terms that go over the lad's head. Over time it becomes clear to the scammer that the baiter managed to rope in way more victims than the lad himself. Nonetheless, he will want his share. The relationship will continue to sour and the baiter will withhold the funds. Lad will probably try to muscle in by contacting "victims" with new lad-provided bank account information or MG/WU instructions but the victim will somehow always manage to send the funds to the baiter regardless of what the lad told them. Read the "Kevin the Idiot" bait for a textbook example of this tactic. It's one of my alltime favorites. It should be in Greatest Hits as well. The members here definitely sunk that loser's battleship many times over

They don't? It seems posing as a fellow lad might be pretty damn clandestine.

As someone who's in a bunch of lad WhatsApp groups and baiting a few lads there whenever I feel like it, it does not take much to blend in. It definitely is quite clandestine. All you need is a GV number.

How would I find such WhatsApp groups in order to lurk? I thought they are by invitation only.

Is that a question I should ask via pm, or in 'help hints & tips' that I think google doesn't crawl?

I am interested in joining and lurking in an online or Whatsapp lad group. How would I do this?

The groups are invite only, however once you get into a couple you'll notice that invites to many others are posted in those as new groups are created all of the time. The first thing you want to do is create your whatsapp account. Make sure it's using a phone number etc that is in no way associated with your real life as it will be visible to everyone in the chat groups. Once you've done that the simplest way to get invited to lad groups is to have a baiter already inside of them invite you in.

Can you use WhatsApp without a phone number?

WhatsApp fundamentally runs on phone numbers, which is why the first screen asks you to verify your phone number. You'll have to use something else to avoid phone numbers.

Hello Shownwinne, welcome to Eater.

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the forum rules here. In particular the one regarding necro'ing old threads.
Please avoid thread necromancy (that is: posting in a thread that has been inactive for several weeks). Old threads have usually little relevance, anymore. Also, members that posted in it may no longer be around. If you want to bring up an old discussion because you have something of value to add, post a new thread and put a link to the old thread. Then, people do not have to read through all the old posts to see what is new.
