I'm literally baiting this ladette claiming to be offering £2,750,000.00. In the United States. From the New York Supreme Cour---

rereads

Wait... 2,000,000.00 Million? That's... that's two *trillion* dollars. Which is a really interesting amount, considering David Koch is supposed to only be worth 50 billion...

Removed immediate quote of the previous post to make reading more natural and, well, we can see it right there ^^^. Thanks. - bware419ers

it's weird how in the US (and a few other countries) a trillion is 10^12, while in the rest of the world it's 10^18

(And why have two words for the same amount? Trillion <>Billion).

(not saying any of the two is better, just noticing that there is a difference)

Inspector Gadget did get that loan for his Death Star

I'm sure he still has the images. A $1950 insurance fee on a $16Trillion loan (American or otherwise) seems legit.

I'm... confused...? How would 10^18 be a trillion??
In the US, at least, it goes 10^3=thousand, 10^6=million, 10^9=billion, 10^12=trillion, 10^15=quadrillion, 10^18=quintillion, ect. It goes in sequence, roughly analogous to the number of commas in the number as it's written out, minus one. It essentially gives a name to each set of 'hundreds, tens, ones' in the number- for example, 123,456,789,876,543,210 would be "one hundred and twenty-three quadrillion, four hundred and fifty-six trillion, seven hundred and eighty-nine billion, eight hundred and seventy-six million, five hundred and fourty-three thousand, two hundred and ten."

The formula here is, hmmm... 10^(3(X+1)), where X is the number you append to -illion. X=1 is just a million, and below that you just have the Thousands and below.

*~segue while I look it up~*

Ohhhh. In other places, it's instead 1,000,000^X where you get the number you append to '-illion', instead of a function of the number of zeroes. A billion is a million millions, a trillion is a million millions of millions, ect.

...I admittedly prefer the former method since... uh, how would someone using that system read "123,456,789,876,543,210"?
