Scam promising... magical spells?

Post by EraserRed » Mon Dec 20, 2021 6:51 pm

I'm pretty new to scambaiting so I have never heard of a scam opening like this before - and I'm not entirely sure if it is an advance fee scam quite yet, so I'm posting here.

This morning, I received an e-mail on my catcher from a man simply known as "Dr. Allen" with the subject line of "Solved your porbem" (sic) which made me laugh before I even opened the body of the email.

And here it is in text for those who use a screen reader:

Note: my spells have no side effects,
No side effects,? Quite impressive, if true! Anyways, I think that this is a great opportunity to stretch the insanity further by asking for increasingly more ridiculous magical spells. Oddly enough, this wasn't sent to multiple recipients, just my specific catcher mail address, but if you would like this scammer's email address, shoot me a DM, if that's allowed - not quite sure just yet. :D

Unfortunately, this is a spellcasting bait. From the rules:
We also do not bait 'spellcasters'. Belief in the occult is extremely strong in parts of western Africa, even among those who profess themselves to be followers of traditional faiths. It doesn't matter if you think their beliefs are bogus. If the person on the other end of that email does believe, and is willing to perform these spells or rituals, and he thinks he is getting paid for them, he just might do it. In that case, a baiter's encouragement has the potential to cause real harm to humans and/or animals. It is never a risk worth taking.
OK to chuckle, but definitely move on to someone you can bait. May I recommend a sampling of tasty lads from Scamwarners?
