Reporting a Fraud Email?

Post by shmuckers » Fri May 26, 2023 1:52 pm

So my workplace received an obvious scam email. The person who sent the email is also impersonating an individual. I was actually about to message this individual over LinkedIn and, lo and behold, he already made a post indicating he is aware that people have been impersonating him.

I want to report this particular scam email but I don't know how or where to start? I apologize if this is the wrong place but Eater is the first place that came to mind.

Welcome to Eater! 🫶🏽

You can make an account at scamwarners.com and post the details of the email there for people to read and bait it. Thanks for asking!

Welcome to Eater! Is the "fraud email" related to Advance Fee Fraud? Would it be possible to post the contents of the email here without giving away the identity of you, your workplace, or the person the scammer is impersonating (feel free to redact with XXXXX, if necessary).

Removed full quote of the previous email to make this thread more reader-friendly. - bware419ers

Basically, my workplace is a law firm and this "client" emailed us about helping with an overseas asset purchase deal worth "millions". I called my insurer and they said its ultimately a faulty cheque scam. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to post any of the details (even on scamwarners) without at least revealing the name of the individual who is being impersonated.

Is there someone I can privately message here or on scamwarners? Thanks!
