Speaking Like a Lad

I am currently researching more ways to torment the Lads. What I am talking about is when my Fake Lads chop the dollar from a real lad.
I have been compiling a list of certain Nigerian phrases that tend to make the Lads upset. Some work better than others. It also helps with the split personality than some of us baiters have (nice, pleasant, innocent victim vs. slap happy, foul mouth, dollar chopping fake lad). Using the English to Ladspeak translator is a big help, too. Put it all in caps, it really adds to the charm. Please feel free to use and share with your pets. Please add any that work for you.

U dey di smol boi na get no levels
The finest girl for your village, na monkey dey toast am.
The tallest man for your village dey use ladder climb maggi.
You dey craze, you dey mad, you dey gbongbolo cigar.
The strongest man for your village, na hot eba kill am.
The richest man for your village dey use shovel drink garri.
and many, many, more.

Of course, one of my favorites is:
I CHOPPED UR DOLLA NA ALL U CAN DO DEY DRINK GARRI

Have fun and bait safe!

Not all lads are Nigerian, nor do they all speak pidgin.

What do you mean, they don't all speak pidgin?

All lads? Not even close. They speak English, French, Tagalog, Russian, Romanian, Malay, Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Turkish, along with hundreds of other languages. At Eater, we define "lad" as "General term used by baiters for a scammer." To even think all scammers speak "pidgin" is both shortsighted and assumes all scammers are West African.

Where is there a working Ladspeak translator Logar? I've seen a few older baits here that provide links but they were all broken the last time I checked. The closest I could find that still works is a link on a post in the Swedish Chef bait in Greatest Hits. It has Swedish Chef and redneck modes but no lad/pidgin options the last time I checked. There are plenty of great and quotable lad phrases if you search for Devguy's mass insult threads. The "U BE DEY HEAVY DUMP OF SHEET!" insults are particularly funny

Sorry for the confusion on my original post. I should have been a tad more specific. Most of my Fake Lads are from Nigeria. I use the insults against all the real ones, so they think their money is on it's way to Nigeria. I do have 2 Spanish speaking Fake lads for some of the real ones who think that their money is headed south of the border. For those ones, I have a very large vocabulary of Spanish (mostly Mexican) insults. Thank you for all your inputs.

I assume it's not wise to constantly use ladspeak against them in all cases, since it might come off as exaggerated. Although the lads might speak like that, they tend to write in proper English (save for the odd error or confusing phrase). I do like the idea of pretending to be Nigerian (fits well in terms of time zone), so how would phrases like this fit?

Even when pretending to be a member of the criminal underworld, I don't use pidgin, and while a few think it's a bit weird, I haven't seen any lads who really care about that. Being able to understand pidgin is more useful than being able to write it.

I'm not a fan of the term "ladspeak" as pidgin is damn near a universal language spoken across West Africa by millions of people who are not scammers/lads. As mentioned above, many scammers do not speak pidgin, at all. "Ladspeak" should probably refer to fraud-specific terms only and "pidgin" should be used for the dialect described in the first post. Wouldn't you agree?

You make a good point. We already do enough to enforce the "all nigerians are scammers" point, so it's probably not wise to hammer that in further

Do you do full baits with those characters also? I'd love to read some of those. I'm always up for a good baitanovela. :D

I agree with this. It's far less necessary than baiters might think to use pidgin or slang when pretending to be a lad. There are also some advantages to sticking to English (or whatever language you're using with the scammer). For one, you won't mistakenly use the wrong regional slang, which might be meaningless to you, but a dead give a way to the scammer. Think of the differences between, for example, slang in London vs Glasgow, or New York City versus Atlanta. Sometimes it is safer to either have your character stick to English or use local phrases sparingly. If you run into a scammer from the same area your character if from and they go into dialect, you can also "get strong" with them and demand they speak in the language of their victims to prove they can run a scam.

Teaching lads the proper American slang is one of my favorites. It's amazing how many romance lads trip up early in the scam because they say they're from Kentucky and don't realize the proper local greeting if you're really from there is "How's chicken?" You can really help prepare your lads for their next victim by teaching them the local lingo. ;)

This translation tool was exactly what I was looking for, but it seems like maybe it's not working anymore?
