Welcome to Eater.!

I'm sorry to hear you have been scammed :(

On this site, we deal with scambaiting, which is engaging with the scammers to have them commit time and resources to us, rather than victims. We are not specialized in victim support. Our sister site, www.scamwarners.com, however is. I would recommend you visit that site, and post. I am sure the members there would be able to assist you and direct you to resources.

As for the scammer: I'd recommend you stop any and all contact immediately. Block their emails, social accounts and telephone numbers and do not respond or interact with them.

Good luck!!

I've been away for some time.

Nice to see a new forum.

Hope to have as much fun as I did in the last one.

I guess all my trophies are gone.

Hey everyone, I didn't realise there was a place to introduce yourself! I have been baiting for a some months now, and I aim to learn more about the art and improve. I have already enjoyed reading Eaters Greatest Hits. The longest I have baited a lad is One and a half months, I got him to fill out some ridiculous forms and he has some really nice things to say at the end XD. I am looking forward to engaging in the community more :D

Hello all,

I was an active member of this community back in....2009 or so? I figured out how to log into my account on the "Old Forums" -- is there a way to move that profile over here to the new digs?

Welcome to all new and returning members!!

@Peanut2 Regrettably, you can't move the profile over. We all had to start with a clean fresh one over here :D. However, you can add some Profile Flair if you'd like. Anything earned on the old forum carries over.

@SomewhatUnoriginal If you have any questions, let us know! IF you want, you can also sign up for a mentor (check my sig)

@EatingTheSong Glad to have you around.

Well I have a scammer who is the early stages of the bait. He is trying to get me to buy gift cards, but I'm trying to obtain a bank account (To report). If I wanted to post this, where would the best place for it be? (I'm kinda new, please excuse my cluelessness lol)

You report them to a mod (The nice folks whose names are green.) and they'll take care of it.

Hello, I've recently uncovered a burning obsession with baiting and after watching a number of videos and reading the Forum Rules have decided to dedicate some time as it seems like an enjoyable hobby. I've been regaled with stories of people portraying characters and celebrities that the majority of 419 scammers wouldn't be privy to, so I decided to (in spite of its awful reception on account of the remarkably bad community) portray a character from Homestuck for humorous intent. If nothing else, I could always claim to simply be an over-zealous role-playing fan. Which I suppose in a strange sense I sort of am. It's grey territory for sure. I haven't commenced the baiting yet, though I have set up my Gmail account and of course my persona as well. I intend on locating a scam in the next few days, though I wish to spend more time educating myself first, before getting started with some (hopefully) low-risk baiting maneuvers. This community seems robust, polite, and very kind, and I'm excited to spend more time here.
Edit: Upon reading the other posts here I am now painfully aware that this introduction is far too verbose. Apologies.

Welcome welcome!

Don't worry about your post being "too long". Share as much or little as you want!

Being able to type so verbosely will certainly help you with baiting.

Let us know if you need some help!

Had an account on the old forum, posting so I can report bank accounts again (although I now realize the one they sent me is obviously fake, guess I'll settle for having fun with it). I've been mostly messing with Steam scammers so there haven't been any accounts for a long time.

Howdy folks, I'm Hatterene! (a name which I have used a few times as an alt unconnected from my real online identity, though if that's still maybe not safe enough I'm happy to be told so so I can reach out to a mod about changing it)

Been watching scambaiting videos online for a bit, figured I'd give a crack at it and email-based 419 lads certainly seem like an easier foot in the door than wasting a phone call scammer's time, though I'm certainly at least starting to research the mechanics behind that too. Looking forward to at least giving this a fair shake even if it turns out not to be my thing!

Hi!

i have posted here before but not recently. As you might guess my real name is not Sutro_Squirrel and We can leave it at that.

I have an account number I need to pass on to a Moderator.

I have a question about moving scammers off of Facebook and covering my tracks.

I regularly receive Friend Requests on FaceBook from random "females". The FB account is in my real name. I tell them I don't normally accept FR's from people I've never met IRL. We will chat back and forth on FB, then they will suggest we continue chats HangOuts. I use an email address there that is fairly anonymous and block the person on FB.

Do these people keep any kinds of records that could link my real name to the gmail address I am using.

I am having a lot of fun with this, but may be more exposed than is prudent.

Thanks!

There's a very good chance that they do and that will not only give them your personal details but quite possibly those of your family, friends, employer. So the safest thing to do is keep your RL Facebook totally unconnected from your baiting.
