I work in information securtiy, and followed a couple of the best known scambaiters on twitter and YT. The other day I started looking a bit more into it and found this forum.

I already created a fake persona and replied fron the fake email account to a couple of email I found in my personal SPAM folder.

Yes, it is good to be back.
And yes, Obelix is French indeed. But that was the avatar I used with my original account (to which I lost the login details and the associated email address doesn't exist anymore either ). I have no idea why I picked that one, should have done something with windmills and clogs or something like that. But hey, nostalgia kicked in

Hello all! I want to respect the "limit personal details about yourself" and in doing so, here is my intro!

I am excited to be here and want to learn as much as I can, gain knowledge and educate. A little about myself, I may or may not be married I might have a certain number of kids but then again, I might not. There may or may not be a number of dogs living in my home.

I have been watching scambaiters on places like twitch, and clips of random calls, but this is the first time I have looked into how it actually happens. When I grow up I would love to do some of these calls myself and help the cause the best I can!

Well, it's a bit draftier than I remember. But it's still nice to be back.

I go by CreedOfApollo, and I joined today. I am in the process of scambaiting someone claiming to be the attorney of a long lost deceased relative's estate. I can't wait to meet everyone, and any sites/links that track, stall, delay, or otherwise occupy the scammer would be much appreciated.

I am a member of the furry community and a brony fan. Hopefully folks don't mind a newbie from the furried kind. I've read over the forum rules: Seems not much different from any other forum that I've participated in; with a few exceptions of course. I'll try not to be a socially awkward individual ; lest it involves annoying lads.

I also took a moment to read through that entire Monica story: And that was an exceedingly difficult read. It seems that 2004 was a time before auto-correct and spell checker was a common thing. Moreover, reading that tiny text on my mobile device was horribly straining to my eyes. I got a headache half way through and had to take a break before finishing the entire multilogue between Monica, the lad, And others. I was excited to become a Baiter... But I'm not sure how effective I can speak in broken English. My English professors would have a heart attack if they saw me typing like that; albeit feigning broken English seems to be a helpful tactic in baiting lads into believing they are dealing with a gullible person.

I am a Chaos entity and I hope to put such skills to a good cause.

I do have a question: Is it advisable to use an iCloud email account for baiting. I notice that Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail was recommended ; however I often use iCloud. Of course, I won't be using my personal email account for said baiting.

Anyways, enough of my rambling. Pleased to meet you, fellow Baiters. Perhaps one day when I become more skillful at this craft, I'd like to team up with others to take them buffoons down.

We are a very welcoming community, but we tend to focus on baiting lads rather than talking about our personal lives. But having an alter ego is pretty universal to baiting, right? And it can definitely give you material for your characters. One of my characters is a vegan pig farmer, which is an interesting contortion.

I once did an entire bait black-out drunk (well, my character did - I prefer water) which led to some pretty wild grammar. That's all part of the fun!

As far as iCloud goes, you'd want to check to be sure no personal identifying information is sent in the email headers, which is the reason we all prefer gmail and a few others. If you send yourself an email to a different account then run it through a trace mail form (there are several available online for free) you'll see if there's anything that gives you away. If nothing leads back to you, you're safe! There aren't many lads who will run a trace mail program, but it's good to be safe.
