How empathic lads are...

Lads are psychopaths with no feelings. Not a surprise.

This bate has been going on for 20 days or so. He has called Lenny (my character's husband) 11 times and Lilly (our neighbour) 31 times. So he is part of the family.

I decided to kill my character to give it a twist, as he was not pooping more piggies. Did he even care?

It was nice of Vera to leave instructions to pay the lad, plus a bit extra for his troubles. Now that her assets are frozen as the estate is dealt with, the lad will have to wait a while to get his money.
Perhaps the lad will take the time to write a handwritten note stating his position of friendship and that he was to receive money. A letter such as this will ensure her last wishes are carried out...........
